The Rosie May Day Ball  - £21,000 raised on the night!!!

The Rosie May Day Ball was held on Sunday May 1st 2005.

With tremendous support a marquee was  transformed into a breathtaking, sparkling, silver and lilac fairytale. A stunning prima ballerina carved in Ice formed the centre piece in the reception area.

On arrival guests were treated like stars with a red carpet welcome, lined by photographers and TV cameras ready to capture that special moment. Once inside the glittering marquee, champagne was served with an elegant jazz quartet playing in the background to set the mood.

Dinner was a gastronomically mouth-watering menu created by renowned local Restaurateur Paul, served at tables named after famous ballets and musicals. To enhance the theme, a cast of West End Performers sang hits from the musicals. After dinner the auctioning of celebrity memorabilia was hosted by BBC TV auctioneer Colin Young. The evening continued with dancing to the international ten piece show band 'Mixed Feelings' from London playing into the small hours.

Rosie May’s passion was music, dance and theatre, she was due to audition for the English National ballet last year. We feel this truly magical and memorable evening was a fitting tribute to a very special little girl.

Anthea Turner and Grant Bovey give their support.

The Night raised a grand total of £21,000 for the Rosie May Memorial Fund.

The Rosie May Memorial Fund has already donated £11,000 to Sheffield Children’s Hospital to provide specialist equipment to the Intensive Care Unit where Rosie May spent the last 48hours of her life.

Proceeds from The Rosie May Day Ball will be used:

To continue to support Sheffield Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Provide and fund functional and fitting memorials that will benefit the village of Bottesford, above all the children.

Establish links in South East Asia to fund building of  “Rosie May’s House” for abandoned and orphaned girls. This will be a living project which individuals, families and schools can become involved in as we develop this to provide both financial and practical help for this desperate situation.

Thank you to all involved. The event was only possible through your compassion and support.
