A record £4,500 was raised on the day for the Rosie May Home in Sri Lanka. Once again we are overwhelmed with the support, we have raised £1,000 more than last year it has been an amazing day.' The judges from London's West End were impressed by the standard which they said gets higher every year, they were amazed at how much local talent there was!' The four winners of the 13+ age group (photo below) will be invited along with fourteen other competitors who achieved the highest scores to attend the Rosie May Academy for its 5th year in September. The Academy gives local talented young people the unique opportunity to be taught master classes from professionals in West End shows. It was a very special day in memory of a very special little girl, Rosie May's friends have been dancing in this competition for the last six years, Rosie May will be very proud of them.

A spectacular day raised a record £2,500 for the Rosie May Home, Sri Lanka. Over 80 talented dancers took part from Leics,Lincs and Notts aged 5 to 17 years. The competition was judged by Charlotte Gorton & Richard Reynard from the West End who said " the standard was exceptionally high this year, it was a difficult decision" The dancers with the top 16 scores will win a place in the Rosie May Academy class which is supported by the Rosie May Memorial Fund to give aspiring young dancers the unique opportunity to be taught by professionals from the West End. A presentation was given by Rosie May's parents who returned last week from Sri Lanka, they have been working with staff & volunteers at the Rosie May Home and a pre school for 100 Tsunami children which is funded by their charity. Mary & Graham said " It was an amazing day, even though it was a competition the atmosphere was very friendly, all the dancers were helping each other out" "Rosie May's 15th Birthday is on May 9th although painful for us on a personal level, we felt it was a perfect way to celebrate her short life through her passion of dance" " We would like to thank everyone involved in the day, especially the dancers who danced for Rosie May she would be so proud of them" "We are thrilled that we have raised £500 more than last year from this event, it will go directly to the Rosie May Home which will take the first five Tsunami Orphans in June 2008."

Dance For Rosie May 2007 held on May 6th was another spectacular and very special day. We had a record number of entries and raised an amazing £2,067 for the Rosie May Home in Sri Lanka..
Most of you will know that it is Rosie Mays 14th Birthday on 9th May, as we continue to struggle with the daunting prospect of a future without our little girl it gives us hope and comfort to know that Rosie May's legacy will live on through the lives of the children here today and the children in Sri Lanka.
The judges were impressed by not only the high standard of dance but more importantly by the outstanding improvement and development from individuals who danced the previous year.

Rosie May Academy Class 06/07 with Richard Fox from the London West End Show....Mamma Mia. As the finale to the day, the Academy Class performed two numbers.
On the 30th April 2006, over 80 dancers aged 4 to 16 years shared their passion and creativity by performing in Dance for Rosie May 2006 judged by professional West End performers Suzie Boyle and Charlotte Gorton
It is important to us that Rosie May is remembered for her talent, her sparkle on stage and love of dance, not for how she was taken. It was an emotional but very special day especially so close to Rosie May's 13th birthday. We cannot think of a more fitting and perfect tribute, we know Rosie May would think so too.
An incredible £1,438.76 was raised for the Rosie May Memorial Fund.
Our heartfelt thanks to Nickie, Rosie May's dance teacher, once again for her never ending support, patience and organisation.
Thank you to all who came along to watch, the judges for their expertise, to everyone who helped on the day, the donations of home made cakes, Janice,Mandy & Karen, Bingham & Hykeham school of Dance, Tozer Studios and Nickie Sheridan Musical Theatre Academy.

The Judges:
Suzie Boyle was born in Huddersfield and trained at the Dorothy Stevens School of Dance and subsequently has worked in most parts of the entertainment profession.
Although starting singing and dancing for an American cruise line at the age of 18 and later on the maiden world voyage of P&O’s Oriana as a member of Stadium Theatre Company, most recently Suzie has delved into the film world; “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, The Importance of Being Ernest”, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, “Lepricorns” as well as many Pop videos including “Grease” (with Craig Maclachlan), Pulp (This is Hardcore), Dario G (2002 World Cup) with the result of appearing several times on Top of the Pops, The Royal Variety Show, The Brit Awards (Cher and Westlife), The National Lottery and Noels Telly Years!
Suzie has also appeared in commercials including DFS, Argos and Vidal Sassoon as well as many Trade Shows for choreographers such as Kevan Allen, Anthony Van Laast, Nicola Trehern, Fran James, Bunty Matthais, Karen Bruce and Adrian Allsop, but throughout her career has devoted time to her first love – that of musical theatre and has appeared in many pantomimes up and down the country including “Babes in the Woods” (Norwich) and “Mother Goose” (Sunderland), as well as “Sondheim – The Gala Concert” (The Barbican, London), “Stonewall Equality Show” (The Albert Hall, London)and “FAME” (The first National tour and The Prince of Wales Theatre and The Victoria Palace Theatre – London; West End as well as a stadium Tour of Sweden playing the role of Lambchops).
Although recently taking a break to have her first child; Ella, Suzie is about to return to the entertainment world picking up where she left – presenting. Previous credits are Simply Shopping (Sky Digital), Out and About (BBC 2),Nat. West Conference, Diet Coca Cola (both Corporate)and BT (Millennium Dome).
Charlotte Gorton. From an early age Charlotte trained at the Marguerita School of dancing in St Albans before completing her training at a London stage school.
Charlotte has worked extensively as a professional dancer, singer and actress appearing in many musicals such as Fame the musical (UK and Scandinavian tour), Grease as Cha Cha (Cambridge theatre, London), Mamma Mia! playing the alternate lead role of “Donna” (Prince Edward Theatre, London), Pal Joey (Chichester festival theatre), Guys and Dolls (Crucible Theatre, Sheffield).
She has also worked for the National Theatre appearing in Love Labour’s lost and Anything goes.
Charlotte recently appeared in the West End production of Guys and Dolls at the Piccadilly Theatre with Ewan McGregor; which she finished last month to pursue her choreography and teaching.
Charlotte has also danced in the films- Beyond the sea, Jesus Christ Superstar, De-Lovely and also worked on the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in pre-production with Tim Burton.
She has also worked in television and video including work with the likes of Oasis and also was a dancer on the final Boyzone tour.

First Competition in 2005 Nickie Slater School of Dance held a dance competition for members of the dance school 7 years plus. Competition fees donated £54.00 to the fund. Dance performance was judged on criteria and skills that Rosie May excelled in!
