Rosie May was a beautiful, 10 year old, talented and creative little girl. Her passion was dance, which she began at three years of age. Rosie May loved ballet, modern, tap, disco, singing and drama which she did at her dance school, although her Daddy has to take the credit for teaching her to jive in the kitchen! She would dance everywhere, in the house, the supermarket, even on the way home from school! People would tell us they “couldn’t take their eyes off her” when she danced on stage.
In September 2003 she auditioned for her first professional Panto, when the call came through to say that she had been successful she happily accepted and then told us afterwards!
On Boxing Day 2003 we sat in the theatre with all our family proudly watching Rosie May as a mischievous rat, beautiful flower girl and many other things in Dick Whittington!
Two weeks after Rosie May was murdered, she received an invitation for an audition for the English Youth Ballet for Sleeping Beauty.
Rosie May’s creativity is what we will always admire her for and what her friends and teachers remember her for. She would spend endless hours absorbed in creating dances and routines from the Nutcracker to Madonna!
This was our inspiration for the Rosie May Academy class. To give aspiring young dancers a unique opportunity to be taught quite simply by the “best”. The academy class is sponsored by the fund. Selection is the top eight scores from the “Dance For Rosie May” competition an annual event open to local dance schools.
A perfect tribute in memory of our very special little girl and a dream come true for those who are invited.
