In October 2015 the strength and determination of the Rosie May Foundation was devotedly exhibited. A nine day trek through the Himalayan mountains was organised with the purpose of raising awareness of the aftermath of the devastating 2015 earthquake and raise funds to help children in crisis in Nepal.
On our trek we formed a friendship with our trek leader Wangda Sherpa who told us that his local school, located in lower Everest area, had collapsed and little aid had reached his community.
Connecting with NGO’s conducting both child protection and community recovery work we were able to reach the remote villages and the most vulnerable families to see the struggle they face nine months on.
Partnering with a local NGO the Rosie May Foundation is currently proposing to;
Rebuild a school in Wangda Sherpa’s village
Fund female friendly spaces as a women's empowerment project
Develop a sustainable sanitation project for women
Provide a concrete slab for the Dalit community so parents can wash their children
