And just like that, my time in Sri Lanka has come to an end… for now. 💛
Leaving has been far harder than I expected, because this place and these people have changed me in ways I’ll carry forever. I’ve gained so much, both personally and professionally, but more than anything, I’ve gained perspective. I’ve seen the daily fight families face just to stay together in the harshest of circumstances. I’ve shared moments of pure joy, laughter and tears with mums who are relieved and deeply grateful for the support and empowerment they’ve been given.

Every day brought something that touched my heart. From families overwhelmed with gratitude for safe transport to school, to children learning conversational English through laughter and play, to witnessing a family finally having their own toilet so they no longer have to depend on their neighbours for such a basic dignity. I’ve watched children walk to school beaming with pride, clutching their new school bags filled with learning tools. Knowing their school now has enough resources to teach them properly for the entire year is something I’ll never forget. And honestly… the list goes on.

The work the Rosie May Foundation does for these families and children is nothing short of life-changing, and it simply couldn’t happen without the kindness and support of others.
